Japanese Agency to Cooperate With DOE on Anzali Lagoon
The internationally recognized lagoon has drawn the attention of agencies working in the field of sustainable development and environment to cooperate with Iran on protection of the beauty of nature.
JAIC team led by Masahiro Ohta held talks with provincial officials in charge of environment protection and said that the Japanese agency would cooperate with Iran to revive Anzali Lagoon.
OHTA said that JAIC would send a team to implement the project and launch training courses for workers active in protection of environment in Gilan Province. He signed an agreement with the provincial officials to that effect.
He called on the provincial officials to stop disposal of industrial wastes into the lagoon and said that the public should be given instructions to put into practice the protective measures for the lagoon.
Deputy Governor-General for Development Affairs Mohammad Alizadeh said that people in the province have concerns about the environment and are keen on protection of Anzali Lagoon for its remarkable tourist attractions.
He welcomed JAIC proposal to cooperate with DOE on rehabilitation of the lagoon and said that the provincial officials have adopted measures to stop destruction of the environment.
The 15,000 sq.m lagoon provided habitat for over 150 plant and life species.
